The following is a brief list of assessments that may be of value to your organizations hiring efforts.  Among the initial steps is the collection of data relative to your current workforce and how they perform on various assessments.  Once the assessment results are validated, an investigation into how your top employees perform on the assessments is required.  These results can then be compared to your current candidates to determine which candidates possess the same traits as your top performers.  Longitudinal data can be collected to track the success rate of these assessments to further refine the hiring process.

Popular Assessments:

NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) is a psychological personality inventory intended to measure the Big Five personality traits: Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness to Experience.  Additionally, the test measures subordinate dimensions (known as facets) of each of the main personality factors. 

The Wonderlic Cognitive Ability Test is an assessment for learning and problem solving in a range of occupations. 

Emotional Intelligence tests can be used to help identify candidate’s ability to manage their own emotions, as well as understanding the emotions of others.

Perfectionism is a trait that can hinder performance but also maximize performance.  Various assessments can be used to better understand specific perfectionism traits that may enhance business success, but also may be hindering success.

The hiring of new employees is a complex process.  The resource hours required to advertise, interview, and select new employees, in addition to the costs associated with the process, make it critically important to select the right candidates.
